To provide students with the opportunity to explore the social contexts that affect the daily lives of children and families and to consider the roles and responsibilities of children’s services as they respond to these contexts; and to develop an understanding of the role of the early childhood educator in these services.
Social, economic and political contexts of early childhood service provision; social capital; community constructs; children's services frameworks including funding; governance, operation, quality assurance; current issues including community ownership, integration; Indigenous families and early childhood services; the roles of the early childhood educator; legal and ethical considerations.
