Course aim

  • to introduce students to international law’s vocabulary, concepts and institutions
  • to examine international law’s regulation of relations between States, individuals and other actors
  • to enable students to identify sources of international law and assess their validity and application
  • to introduce students to jurisdictional issues and to issues of state responsibility
  • to consider the role of international law plays in relation to Australian domestic law and within the Asia Pacific region
  • to examine the role that international law plays in times of peace and crisis and how international law is affected by its political context
