Property Law: General

Course aim

The aim of this course is to assist students to understand the basic notions inherent in the law of property in Australia. The course, which clearly reveals the interplay of common law, equity and statute law, introduces students to the philosophy and changing conceptions of property, explains the classification and nature of different proprietary interests, outlines the concepts of possession, ownership and title in relation to personal and real property law and considers how property interests are acquired, transferred and given priority over other interests.

This course builds on skills acquired in earlier courses with particular emphasis given to: problem solving, research and written communication, working independently as well as in a group.
