To provide students with the skills to design a case study, collect and analyse the data, and to write up a report on the case study directed to a specific audience.
The case study as a research strategy: case study method; exploratory case studies; case selection and screening – criteria and procedures; factor theories; explanatory theories; descriptive case studies. Designing case studies. Conducting case studies: case study protocol, pilot case study; sources of evidence; collecting the evidence – interviews and documents. Analysing case study evidence – quantitative data analysis. Reporting case studies. Ethical issues and approvals in case study based research.
