To provide students with the theoretical foundations, knowledge and skills in subject cataloguing, classification and metadata schemas to organise resources in all formats to international standards to assist information discovery.
Overview of metadata, repositories, archives, museums, and galleries; theories, principles and practices of business and subject analysis and classification; the application of major classification schemes for library, records, and archival management environments; the theoretical foundations, structure, and application of international subject cataloguing schemes; research in the field of linked library data, ontologies, and the semantic web the value of standardised recordkeeping metadata; metadata standards, metadata architecture, schemas, and applications for describing and organising digital objects and collections; metadata interoperability, access, and data reuse; metadata standards, types, and schema; provenance and original order; classification schemes, DDC, LC classification, UDC; and research information description, access, organisational impacts and information retrieval.
