To prepare students for archival work through evaluating Australian and international archival practice, critiquing archival principles, theories, and models and examining the role of the archive in modern society.
Development of archival principles and theory internationally and nationally and the core functions of appraisal, accessioning, arrangement and description, provision of access, and preservation. Discussion of legislative frameworks, archival management systems, advocacy and digital archives are also addressed.
