Course aim

The course will serve as a foundation for event studies. Students will gain an understanding of the diversity of events and the way they fulfil a wide range of social and economic needs.

Course content

Events: historical perspectives, community celebrations; carnivals and festivals, destination event portfolios, global competition to stage events, event characteristics; locations and venues, timing and duration, performances and passion, competitors and crowds, employees and entertainers, sponsors and supporters.
