Course aim

To enable students to develop critical analysis of energy and environmental security and the emergence of social movements for justice and the environment, particularly in Asia.

Course content

Students will develop critical analysis of the roles of social, environmental and justice movements, particularly in the less affluent parts of Asia. The students will develop a critical perspective to explore the concepts of energy security and environmental security and the role of political regimes, international financial institutions and transnational corporations in environmental politics in the global South.
