Course aim

For preservice teachers to extend their knowledge of inclusive practices to address the diversity of learner needs within a range of educational settings.

Course content

Preservice teachers will develop critical knowledge and practice in inclusive education and cater to special educational needs of learners with disability, learning difficulties, language and communication disorders, social and emotional disorders, giftedness, marginalisation associated with gender, culture, race and linguistic diversity from birth to adulthood. Preservice teachers will investigate inclusion strategies, exceptionality, equity, social justice, human rights, partnerships, person centred planning and advocacy; current legislative, ethical and policy directions in the context of education.
