Course aim

This course is intended to provide an opportunity for students to apply theory to practice within a focused marketing project setting, and also to provide students with opportunities to develop their business and marketing analysis skills; written communication skills; interviewing, presentation and negotiation skills; and time management skills.

Course content

An industry-based marketing-related practicum will be undertaken on behalf of an appropriate organisation by a team comprising two students. Each team will focus on a narrow opportunity or problem, with supporting research. Project activities could include analysis of the business environment, identification and analysis of target customer groups and their purchase decision-making processes, identification and analysis of competitor capabilities and industry dynamics, development of effective external or internal marketing communication programs, establishing marketing controls or customer relationship management programs - in a local or international context.

Assessment

Progress Report - individual presentation on progress, Report Part 1 - group project plan, draft sections of report. Must be passed for group to proceed with the project., Report Part 2 - remainder of written report and group presentation.
