Fundamentals of Supply Chain Operations

Course aim

This course serves as an introduction to the management of many practical issues, specifically in the production of goods and services in supply chains. It delineates and defines the pertinent operations and functions as an essential knowledge foundation and places them in context with various areas of logistics and supply chain management. All organisations whether in manufacturing and service industries are involved in some form of operations management. This course will provide students with the knowledge and foundations of logistics and supply chain operations and functions; whilst at the same time assist in the development and design of production and operating systems, and also building skills in problem solving techniques.

Course content

Fundamentals of operations in logistics and supply chains; including strategies, business processes, development of products and services, aggregate planning, inventory management, capacity, process and layout planning, distribution systems, forecasting, flow management and the use of technologies across the supply chain.
