To extend students’ knowledge, skills and understanding relevant to the teaching of speaking, listening, reading, writing with children aged from birth to 8 years.
Application of detailed knowledge of curriculum documents, materials and organisational requirements for literacy development in children birth to eight years with a special focus on the early years of school (children aged 5-8 years);; ; planning for children’s reading and writing development using appropriate curriculum resources; demonstrating knowledge, skills and teaching strategies relevant to the areas of oral language, reading, writing, spelling, grammar, handwriting and critical literacy; demonstrating expertise in synthesizing theoretical knowledge, curriculum goals and outcomes, with appropriate teaching strategies and resources.
