This course delineates and defines roles and functions of operations management and places them in context with various areas of logistics and supply chain management. All organisations whether in manufacturing or service industries are involved in some form of operations management. Students will apply an integrated approach to the management of operations; investigate the areas of systems analysis and operations research; and be able to apply methods to problems areas of operations management in the supply chain.
Roles and contributions of operations management in the supply chain; including strategies, business processes, improving quality, productivity and efficiencies, operational excellence, risk management and sustainability; and the developments and trends of operations management.
