Course aim

To delineate and define the roles and functions of operations management within the context of supply chain management. All organisations whether in manufacturing or service industries or profit or not for profit business are part of many supply chains in today’s interconnected world and need to apply appropriate concepts of operations management to be effective and efficient.
Students will advance their theoretical knowledge and adopt an integrated approach towards operations in supply chains; investigate the areas of systems analysis and be able to apply learned methods in operations management for a supply chain.

Course content

Operations and supply chain strategy; processes and supply chain design for effective operations and efficiency; capacity and scheduling; demand planning; supply chain planning and management; managing and improving the processes; and six sigma and lean as improvement strategies.
