Course aim

To provide knowledge and skills in the contemporary theory and practice of remuneration and compensation of tangible and intangible rewards and recognition.

Course content

It will explore how human resource managers can design organisational reward and recognition systems. Content and process theories of motivation. Macro and micro level compensation concepts will be considered. This will include issues relating to contextual factors, job analysis and evaluation, bases for pay, different aspects of equity and organisational justice, the design of compensation systems, the relationship between the formal industrial relations system and organisational processes. Pay for performance and incentive schemes. Executive pay.
