To prepare students for the practicum experience by assisting students to develop skills and understandings which make for systematic, rigorous and critical reflection, student’s disposition to think critically about current educational ideas, organisational arrangements and teaching practices.
Initial teaching skills; qualities of arguments; analysis of professional knowledge; the identification of personal values, their relationship to current educational purposes and practices; the way personal values give rise to conceptions of social justice; justifying a concept of social justice; relativism about values and its limitations; critical analysis of some aspects of current educational policies, guidelines and practices, as they pertain to the practicum.
