Course aim

To introduce students to a range of contemporary research methodologies and practices necessary to develop an independent research project in sustainable design.

Course content

An introduction to research strategies, techniques and methodologies typically used in sustainable design projects in architecture and design; the main milestones involved in developing design research projects in this discipline, including literature searches, developing and writing literature reviews and formal research proposals; the development, design and planning of a small independent design research project.
