Course aim

To develop student understandings of this multidisciplinary learning area, including history, geography and futures education, focusing on disciplinary and interdisciplinary teaching and learning approaches and ways Years 3 to 9 students think and work socially and environmentally from critical and culturally inclusive perspectives.

Course content

Constructivist perspectives of student learning; inquiry approaches to thinking and working socially and environmentally from inclusive and critical perspectives; planning for learning in society and environment; student centred inquiry; resources that inform and support planning for learning, including outreach and outside of classroom sources; social justice, democratic process and ecological sustainability as core elements of the Years 3-9 society and environment curriculum. Society and environment includes historical, geographical and futures perspectives and understandings.
