To introduce students to theoretical principles and practical issues relating to human development and learning.
Cognitive theories of learning and memory (information processing theory); behavioural theories (classical conditioning and operant learning theory); social learning theory; Piaget’s and Vygotsky’s developmental theories of learning; psychology, research and fundamental issues associated with motivation, children with special learning needs, social/moral development, and personality development; Bronfenbrenner’s theory of ecological development: exploring gender and cultural differences on learning, teaching responsibilities relating to state and federal legislation, policies and guidelines (including TRB Code of Ethics) and broader (macro) influences.
