To understand the factors which influence the uptake and continued use of management systems and technology within organisations and to explore their impact on individuals, organisations and society.
The history of technology and its impact on civilisation. Appropriate technology. Continuous and radical change. Models of the implementation of new technology within organisations. Measuring the effectiveness of implementation – the concept of maturity. End user acceptance. Tools for effective implementation, including continuous improvement and life-long learning. Organisational characteristics which support technological change, including impact of values. Resource-based view of competitive advantage. Privacy and legal issues related to technology. Impact of technology on individuals, work, and organisations.
