To develop the practical competence of students through professionally relevant work experience.
The Australian Professional Experience is a 9 unit internship course which enables our students to gain real workplace experience. Students choose their own placement. The course is based around weekly interactions with the course coordinator to ensure that the student is able to maximise their educational and skill-based experience. The educational content includes an assignment which describes the workplace role. The second assignment builds on the first by reflecting on their achievements while on placement; specifically how the placement adds value to their career trajectory, with reference to UniSA’s Graduate Qualities. The student are then debriefed and assessed on their achievements. This is based on their performance during the placement, feedback from the workplace mentor, and on the quality of their reflections and educational and skill-based outcomes they gain from the course.
