Course aim

To increase student’s ability to develop specifications for the design and implementation of appropriate networking and telecommunications infrastructure and services with consideration of business needs and industry trends.

Course content

Review of Data-link, Network and Transport Layer Terminology; Hierarchical and Logical Network Design; VLSM IP addressing and Naming; Routing Protocols including RIP, OSPF, and EIGRP; Switching, VLANs, Trunking and Spanning Tree Protocol; Security Strategies including access control lists (ACL), network address translation (NAT), DHCP configuration, and Virtual Private Network (VPN). WAN Technologies such as Point to Point Protocol (PPP), ISDN, Frame Relay, ATM, DSL;. Network Testing and Documentation.
