Course aim

To familiarise students with specificities of application IT into health domain. To explore key techniques and applications of Information Technology that have been developed for the healthcare domain.

Course content

Specificities of IT implementation into the health environment, data in health, clinical coding, health statistics (probability density function, multiple regression, logistic regression), methods of data mining (clustering, association rules, emerging patterns), decision support technology, knowledge representation, automated reasoning techniques (expert systems, neural networks, Bayesian networks), Uncertainty representation and handling (sensitivity and specificity, confidence intervals, conditional probability, Bayesian networks, influence diagrams, fuzzy sets). Medical signal processing. Medical image processing. Standards for interoperability. User interface design issues and approaches. Security and confidentiality in health. Health information systems architectures.
