Course aim

This course aims to develop an in-depth knowledge of both individual and group counselling theory and practice. Interviewing and assessment skills and acquire knowledge and skills in the development of therapeutic relationships in mental health nursing

Course content

A range of individual counselling skills and strategies; group membership, leadership skills and knowledge of group dynamics; knowledge and analysis of functional and dysfunctional interpersonal interactions between individual and group members; the ability to critically analyse the nature of the therapeutic encounters.
