Course aim

The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge required to provide holistic midwifery care for people experiencing complex health problems requiring a high level of midwifery intervention.

Course content

Care of the woman with complex health problems; families in health and illness; clinical reasoning and decision making; conflict management; legal and ethical issues; applied pharmacology; pain assessment and management; skin integrity; problems of immobility; principles of personal care.
