Course aim

To develop students' advanced writing skills and critical analyses of prose intended for children and young adults, within the context of contemporary Australian publishing.

Course content

Students will undertake In-depth exploration of contemporary fiction and non-fiction for young people and write, workshop and edit manuscript drafts to publishable standard. They will develop high level practical skills in prose writing for the various audiences within the children’s and young adult age groups and investigate the complex aspects of the Australian publishing sector which affect the creation, publication and reception of writing for young people.

Three 4.5 unit courses (at least one at Level 2) from EITHER the Children's Literature OR the Writing and Creative Communication Major/ Sub-major/Minor OR a mixture of both.
