Course aim

To develop an advanced knowledge of communication and ethical reasoning skills, in order to develop a capacity for moral agency required for physiotherapy practice.

Course content

To enable students to develop a capacity for moral agency required for physiotherapy practice, the course uses Rest’s four component model of moral behaviour and communication theory as a framework to teach an advanced knowledge and skillset of ethical reasoning and communication processes. The course seeks to develop student competence in moral sensitivity, judgement, motivation and courage, and the ability to address barriers to practice presented by managing emotions, power and rank and conflict.
