This course will assist health professionals to extend their skills and knowledge of the current practice and principles underlying the care and management of acute cardiac conditions.
The syllabus will incorporate anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, pathophysiology, diagnosis (history, ECG and serum cardiac enzymes) and management of acute coronary syndromes in the acute phase with an emphasis on pharmacological management, management of cardiac emergencies (cardiac arrest, arrhythmia, acute pulmonary oedema, cardiogenic shock), current interventional modalities for the management of acute coronary syndromes, and political, social and economic factors that impact upon the provision of acute cardiac services
