Course aim

This is a capstone IT strategy and management course.
It is an advanced course focusing on current and emerging issues and problems of the strategic management of information technology. Students will build a depth critical knowledge of selected key IT management issues in relation to emerging technology and IT management trends. Students will also reflect on their learning to understand processes for gaining in-depth knowledge of IT management issues.
The course will provide students with advanced knowledge that is necessary for PhD research in this domain.

Course content

The course is intended to be flexible in its content selection to take advantage of specialist skills of seminar leaders, visiting academics and business leaders, the research interest of the School and contemporary developments in information and communications technologies and systems. The course content will be drawn from:
Organisational transformation; organisational ICT strategy and management, governance models for organisational information systems; processes of strategy formulation and implementation; skills and knowledge required for ICT management; investigation, evaluation and implementation of current trends for IT management; quality management systems; contemporary management and planning strategies; productivity issues, issues of value; benefits management; legal and ethical issues relating to the use of information and communication technologies in private and public sector organisations; other topics appropriate to an advanced course in this domain.
