This course is designed to provide an understanding of global water issues and their interaction between the water cycle and aquatic ecosystems. It also provides insights into the challenges of water usage for health and wellbeing, protecting ecosystems, and the competing needs in urban, rural, and agricultural environments.
This external topic is split into 3 modules: Module 1 The Hydrologic Cycle, Module 2 Surface and Groundwater Hydrology and Module 3 Inter-relationships between the Water Cycle & Aquatic Ecosystems.
Modules 1 and 2 run over the first 6 weeks of the semester and Module 3 over the last 6 weeks. The topic is made up of readings each week and associated tutorial assignments, reflection tasks and two major essays.
