Course aim

To enable students to improve their awareness, understanding and use of English language in social and academic contexts.

Course content

Throughout the course students will study word form and order; clause & sentence and structure; learn how to write in an academic register; be taught reading strategies for long texts; be taught how to evaluate information sources and take notes; develop fundamental writing skills including focus on sentence and paragraph structure; participate in a range of communicative, group activities; be taught oral presentation skills and develop confidence in presenting to an audience and develop listening comprehension skills.
