Course aim
To introduce students to aspects of, and perspectives on, historically recent developments in visual arts and visual culture.
Course content
Perspectives on modernism and the origins of the postmodern condition; postmodern perspectives and the transavantgarde; appropriation and quotation at the end of history; from representation to simulation; hyper-reality, the body and post-humanism; hybridity; contemporary art in Australia.
