To critically review the nature of translation in a global world and its role in international and intercultural communication.
Students will develop knowledge of the issues involved in translating between languages and cultures through a critical investigation of the history and purposes of translation as a human activity; theories of translation and the nature of translation as meaning making. They will develop the capability to translate between languages and reflect on the influence of languages and cultures and the work of translators.
