Course aim

To critically examine at an advanced level, key ideas and practices relating to language, culture and identity mediated by technologies.

Course content

Students will examine computer mediated communication, SMS communication and target language youth cultures. Students will analyse the internet as a global discourse environment, including the impact of computer-mediated communication on native speaker virtual environments and virtual internet communities for language practice, socialisation and building of identities.
