Course aim

To develop students’ understanding of how our identities are produced and maintained through the interplay between language and culture

Investigating language and identity; socio-cultural understandings of identity; language and the ‘other’; personal biography, narrative and identity; interaction and the self: indigenous and minority languages; language and power; language and racism; language and gender; institutional and professional identities; identity in film and other/new media
