Course aim

To explore theories of language acquisition in depth and apply this knowledge in relevant contexts.

Course content

Students will extend their understanding of language acquisition at an advanced level, focusing on theories of first language acquisition; first language insights into second language acquisition; theories of second language acquisition; interlanguage pragmatics; processes of second language acquisition; cognitive styles and strategy choices; individual differences/variables in second language acquisition; the relationship between language learning and literacy development; and instruction and second language acquisition.
