Course aim

To introduce students to the spread of contemporary theology and theological methods and to incorporating these insights, meanings and understandings into educational practice.

Course content

Faith as a human reality; revelation, tradition and beliefs and freedom and the moral life; critical reading of historical theological sources and the biblical foundation for theological reflection; the person and work of Jesus Christ; introduction to God as Trinity; sacraments and sacramentality; recognition of the need for continuing theological dialogue and its emergence from both cultural and current human experience; sources of liberation and ecological theologies; the Catholic Church and dialogue on ecumenism, other world religions; the processes of theological reflection appropriate for religious education in Catholic schools.
