Course aim

To extend students’ knowledge of the Second Testament and its relevance for Catholic school communities and their Religious Education programs by a focussed study of two selected Second Testament texts.

Course content

The texts of the Second Testament; the Greco-Roman setting of the Second Testament; contemporary historical and literary approaches to the interpretation of Second Testament texts; a focussed study of either a text from the Pauline corpus, the Gospel of John or the Book of Revelation including authorship, genre, provenance, community, literary structure and major theological themes; the relevance of these early Christian texts and communities for contemporary Catholic school settings including their Religious Education programs.
