The aims of Financial Theory and Financial Markets are to:
Introduction to Finance–characteristics and types of financial securities, the role of financial markets, and the regulation of financial systems. Interpreting financial statements. The time value of money–basics, extensions and applications. Analysis of and introduction to the valuation of financial securities–money market securities, bonds, stocks, foreign currency, forwards and futures, options, warrants and convertibles. This course also covers some of the important contributions to modern financial theory, notably portfolio theory, asset pricing, and efficient market concepts.
