Course aim

To develop student's understanding of digital technologies for learning, the design of which reflects contemporary understanding of perceptual and neurocognitive mechanisms.

Course content

The perceptual and neurocognitive mechanisms central both to human communication and the technological possibilities for learning: digital technologies and theories of cognition; cognitive development and learning; recent advances in cognitive science and neuroscience and implications for thinking and thinkers; technologies and the amplification of cognition and learning in contemporary curricula; standard educational computer technologies and higher order thinking processes; the role of software agents in learning and cognitive development; technologies for visualising thinking; cognitive technologies and accommodating individual differences; new paradigms for embracing minds and digital technologies; computers as human prostheses. Pharmaceutical technologies and learning.
