To advance students’ knowledge of enduring concepts of contemporary international issues and to enhance their capacity to critically analyse contemporary developments in world politics and global security.
Approaches to politics, international relations and strategic analysis; relationships between politics and security; an inclusive conception of security; historical, societal, and cultural contexts of politics and security; threat perception, defence capabilities, power projection and the security dilemma; global, regional, national, and human security; non-military dimensions of security: economic, crime, disease, the environment, and population movements; peace-building approaches to security; security strategies.
