Students will develop a clear understanding of what it means to know and learn a second language and culture, how various factors affect second language learning, and the role of instruction in that process.
The course explores the following topics central to second language learning: language-and-culture; the role of language in thinking and learning; theories of second language acquisition; processes of second language learning; factors affecting second language learning; learner differences; interaction in second language learning; the role of instruction in second language learning.
