Course aim

To provide students with the opportunity to analyse program development processes in a variety of adult learning contexts and to apply appropriate or modified models of program development to their practice as adult and vocational educators.

Course content

Identification and determination of the ‘shape’ of programs – classroom-based, social action, community development, intervention / prevention, work-based; curriculum models; training packages and curriculum; issues in the construction of learning / developmental pathways for adult learners including the following: identifying and analysing learners; developing aims and learning outcomes; linking aims, learning outcomes and assessment; identifying and sequencing content; selecting delivery modes; developing assessment systems; evaluation; marketing and promotion; implementation of programs, politics of curriculum change.
