To provide students with an understanding of facilities and asset management functions within an organisation and the asset manager’s role in the decision making process.
General asset classes and characteristics: overview of business environments and organisational classifications; strategic alignment of real estate assets and the organisation. Asset Management Function: the evolution of the asset manager; the asset decision making process; using asset management to improve organisational profitability. Facility and Asset Decisions: assets in capital markets; a portfolio approach to asset management; own /lease, buy/build, hold/sell decisions; location decisions. Quantifying and control of facilities and asset risk; insurance.
