Course aim

To provide students with a knowledge of basic chemical principles, human anatomy, physiology and nutrition and the relationship of these to human activity.

Course content

Basic chemical principles; structure and function of biological molecules; skeletal muscle structure, neuromuscular transmission, excitation-contraction coupling; general human biology.  Structural components of respiration; applied and functional anatomy of the limbs with emphasis on the musculoskeletal, respiratory and nervous systems; effects of activity and inactivity, basic nutrition.
