To introduce students to a range of short stories, subjects and techniques, in order to enable them to write, read and critically discuss creative writing texts.
Understanding short fiction; reading/writing/editing short fiction; preparing material for publication; researching short fiction; getting integrated into the local and national writing scene; establishing contact with the structures operating in the field, such as the Writers’ Centre, local presses, Arts SA, Australia Council and other organisations, to maintain future professional development.

At least two courses in Writing and Creative Communication at Level 2/3 or by negotiation with the Course Coordinator. Not available to students who have successfully completed COMM 2058 Writing and Reading Texts B: Short Fiction.
