To develop expertise in the analysis of the organisation and the negotiation of meaning in spoken texts.
Close attention to spoken texts using analytical theories such as pragmatics, spoken interaction analysis, conversational analysis and stylistics. Focus on the relationships between author, text and context; the development of students' skills as analysts and critics; production of spoken texts within a certain issue, era, or genre.
