Course aim

To build on students' theoretical and practical writing skills through critical examinations of non-fiction writing in the context of the community and the transactions between reader, writer and text.

Course content

Students will develop knowledge on the roles of writer and reader in the construction of texts, with particular reference to literary nonfiction texts, including writing about place, people, the natural world, science and technology, controversial issues, popular culture, and political events.  Students will also explore the process and practice of writing by reading other writers' reflections and autobiographical accounts.
