Creative Writing Practice

Course aim

The aim of this course is to provide students with insights into individual writing practices. Students will seek to understand and develop advanced writing practices through the exploration of practice and theory. Students of this course will explore new levels of textual understanding and practise them as individuals and in groups.

Course content

Students will consolidate their creative writing knowledge and skills through detailed exploration of creative writing techniques, discussion and reflection on the techniques articulated by other writers, an intensive study of the psychological and artistic necessities of text, and will apply their knowledge through writing and editing.

Prerequisite(s)

Students need to have completed 18 units in Writing and Creative Communication, of which at least one should be a Level 2/3 course in creative writing or a course with a strong creative writing component or by negotiation with the Course Coordinator. Not available to students who have successfully completed COMM 3042 Creative and Professional Communication.
