The aim of this course is to provide insights into individual writing practices. At each workshop we will seek to understand and develop advanced writing practices through the exploration of practice and theory. Students of this course will explore new levels of textual understanding and practise them as individuals and in groups.
A detailed exploration of creative writing techniques, through discussion and reflection on the techniques articulated by other writers; an intensive study of the psychological and artistic necessities of text; writing and editing.

Creative Writing Practice is an advanced 9 unit course in creative writing. Students need to have completed four courses in Writing and Creative Communication, of which at least one should be a Level 2/3 course in creative writing or a course with a strong creative writing component; either COMM 2058 Writing and Reading Short Fiction, or COMM 2057 Writing and Reading Poetry, or COMM 2044 Creative Non-Fiction, or by negotiation with the Course Coordinator. Not available to students who have successfully completed COMM 3042 Creative and Professional Communication
